There are days when the blank canvas is the ultimate challenge. And there are days when one faces the canvas and a painting just begins. On many of those days, when I step back from the easel, there are chairs, all kinds of chairs. Somehow chairs can tell stories, convey feelings and start conversations.
In a recent workshop with Ottawa artist Bhat Boy, participants were asked to choose one subject for the session. I chose chairs – or perhaps they chose me. What do you see in these paintings? What do they convey to you?
